DataPorter (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates https://dataporter.app. This policy explains what information is processed when you use the site, what stays on your device, and how advertising cookies work.
Client-side processing
DataPorter is a browser-only converter. SQL dumps, CSV files, JSON, YAML, MongoDB exports, and other text you paste or upload are processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript. We do not upload that content to our servers, store it in a database, or log it. When you close or refresh the tab, that working copy is gone unless you copy or download it yourself.
Because conversion never leaves your device, we cannot see, recover, or share the datasets you convert.
Information stored on your device
We store a small preference in your browser’s localStorage so Light/Dark theme can persist between visits. That value is not sent to us. If localStorage is blocked, the theme still works for the current session only.
We do not require an account, and we do not collect names, passwords, or payment details.
Cookies and Google AdSense
This site uses Google AdSense and other third-party advertising technologies to display ads and to help measure how ads perform. These vendors use cookies and similar identifiers, including advertising cookies, on this site and across other sites you visit.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendors’ uses of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices.
These advertising cookies are set by Google and its partners, not by DataPorter’s conversion tools. Ad cookies may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, approximate location derived from IP, pages viewed, and whether you interacted with an ad. Google may combine that with information from its own services. See Google’s Advertising policies and Google Privacy Policy.
Non-personalized ads may still use cookies for frequency capping, aggregated reporting, and to combat fraud and abuse.
What we do not collect from converters
- We do not receive the contents of files you convert.
- We do not sell your conversion data — we never have it.
- We do not use pasted database dumps, configs, or JSON to profile you or to target ads.
Server logs and hosting
Our hosting provider (currently Vercel) may automatically record standard request logs such as IP address, user agent, requested URL, and timestamp in order to operate the site, prevent abuse, and diagnose errors. Those logs are not used to read converter input.
Children
DataPorter is a general-audience developer tool. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a contact email, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy when our tools, hosting, or advertising setup changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
